About - Planters Lane Flower Farm

Welcome to My Dahlia Garden 🌸

Good morning, and welcome!

I'm located in North Pole, Alaska, where I've been growing dahlias for nearly 30 years. What started as a love of growing and sharing dahlias has grown into a hobby that I'm excited to share with other dahlia enthusiasts.

Dahlias love Alaska's long summer days and thrive in our nearly 24 hours of daylight. The extended sunlight gives them plenty of time to grow, develop strong plants, and produce beautiful blooms throughout the season.

I grow my dahlias in grow bags to help minimize the transfer of soil-borne diseases and viruses. I also follow strict sanitation practices and carefully inspect my plants and tubers. Anything that looks suspicious is culled rather than passed along.

For many years, I happily gave away extra tubers and, unfortunately, ended up tossing quite a few each spring simply because I had more than I could plant. I finally decided to start selling some of my extras to help fund my dahlia-growing hobby—and hopefully give other growers the opportunity to enjoy some of these beautiful varieties as well.

I take a great deal of pride in the quality and health of my dahlias. I guarantee my tubers to be true to variety and to have a viable eye. I carefully inspect each tuber before it is sent out. If a tuber is not true to variety, I will refund the purchase price or replace the tuber, when possible.

A Few Things to Know

My fall tubers are intended for growers who live in the South and can plant immediately, growers who plan to take cuttings over the winter, or growers who are comfortable overwintering and storing dahlia tubers. Storage loss can happen even with healthy, viable tubers, and unfortunately, conditions during storage are beyond my control. There are no refunds or replacements for tubers that are lost, damaged, or fail during storage. Because of this, please don't purchase fall tubers unless you are familiar with proper dahlia storage.

I'll be digging throughout the fall, and I'll continue adding varieties and tubers as they become available. I'm also happy to combine additional tubers with existing orders whenever possible.

Some of my early-dug clumps can be a wonderful opportunity for growers who want to get a head start on the season and potentially take cuttings early.

Fall tubers are expected to begin shipping the last week of October.

If you see something you're interested in, please send me a DM. I'm happy to answer questions, and if you'd like references from previous buyers, just ask. I want you to feel comfortable knowing that you're buying from a real grower who cares about the dahlias I send out.

Thank you for stopping by and supporting my little dahlia-growing hobby. 🌸

Happy growing!
